Description

American Traveler is hiring a BMT/Oncology RN with chemo certification for a teaching hospital, requiring 2 years of specialty experience and a rotating day/night schedule.

Details
  • Work in the BMT/Oncology unit of a short-term acute care teaching hospital with 402 staffed beds
  • Patient ratio of 1:4-5
  • Rotating day (7:30-18:00) and night (18:30-7:00) 3x12 hour shifts
  • Required to work every other weekend, though scheduling depends on unit needs
  • Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
  • Uses Cerner charting system
  • Initial schedule set based on unit needs, with future preferences considered by the manager
Requirements
  • Active DC RN license required prior to start date (pending DC license may be accepted)
  • BLS certification required
  • ONS Chemo certification required
  • BSN and OCN preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of recent specialty experience in hem/onc or BMT within the last 7 years required
  • BMT experience required
  • At least one previous travel assignment required
  • Skilled in IV therapy/infusions, accessing and managing ports, starting and maintaining IVs, and chemotherapy administration
  • Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias
  • Flu vaccine required
Additional Information
  • Administer chemotherapy and provide inpatient oncology and BMT nursing care
  • Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias as part of patient monitoring
  • Scrubs not provided; any color accepted as long as free of other hospital logos
  • Local candidates within 60 miles accepted
  • Candidates with previous employment at this health system must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler
  • No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment, with a maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract
  • First-time travelers are not eligible for this position due to the travel experience requirement
