Job description

About Giga
Giga is building gigawatts of AI data centers to hasten a future of intelligence and abundance. We build data centers fast and at scale by combining the capabilities of an equipment supplier, engineering firm, general contractor, and real estate developer under one roof. Our team moves quickly and thinks practically. If you're ready to make an impact in an industry that matters, we're looking for people like you.
Why join Giga
  • The Pace: We're building at a speed most companies talk about but never actually operate at. If you've been bored somewhere else, you won't be here.
  • The Impact: Every person at Giga touches the work that matters. No layers, no waiting for approval chains. You'll see your fingerprints on what we ship.
  • The Team: A team of operators defining the future of AI infrastructure. We recruit A-players from the most innovative companies in the world, and they choose Giga because the work here means more.
  • The Moment: AI doesn't run without power, and that's us. Giga is the picks and shovels behind the AI revolution. This industry is about to explode, and you'll be in the room where it's already happening.

What you'll do
As Fiber & Telecom Lead at Giga, you will own the strategy, procurement, and delivery of all fiber and telecommunications infrastructure across our data center portfolio. You'll work directly with Engineering, Development, Operations, and external carriers to ensure every site has the connectivity it needs - on time, at the right cost, and built to scale. This is a hands-on role with broad ownership over one of the most critical infrastructure workstreams in the company.
Where you'll work
We are an in-office culture - velocity matters when you're building physical infrastructure, and the best decisions happen in the room. This role is ideally based in our San Francisco, Long Beach, or Houston offices, with full-time onsite expectations outside of bi-weekly WFH Fridays.
That said, we will make exceptions for truly exceptional talent if you live outside one of our hubs. If you're the right person for this role, we'll have a conversation about what works.
Responsibilities
  • Own end-to-end fiber and telecom procurement for all Giga data center sites, from initial site feasibility through carrier contracts and service activation
  • Develop and manage relationships with Tier 1 and regional carriers, dark fiber providers, and colocation network partners to negotiate competitive pricing and service terms
  • Lead telecom due diligence during site selection, assessing fiber availability, diverse path routing, carrier presence, and lead times for new builds and acquisitions
  • Drive the design and delivery of meet-me rooms (MMRs), fiber vaults, conduit infrastructure, and on-site telecom distribution systems in coordination with construction and engineering teams
  • Manage telecom budgets, vendor contracts, and service agreements across the portfolio, tracking spend and ensuring accountability against project milestones
  • Build and maintain a live tracker of all in-flight fiber orders, carrier commitments, and activation timelines to support operations and executive reporting
  • Partner with network and controls engineering to ensure physical infrastructure aligns with capacity planning, redundancy requirements, and long-term growth projections
  • Serve as the internal subject matter expert on fiber market conditions, carrier capabilities, and emerging connectivity technologies relevant to hyperscale deployments
  • Develop procurement frameworks, vendor scorecards, and standard telecom specifications to drive consistency and speed across the development pipeline
Requirements
  • 5-7 years of experience in fiber procurement, telecom infrastructure, or carrier relations, with at least some exposure to data center or mission-critical environments
  • Deep knowledge of fiber and telecom ecosystem: dark fiber, lit services, DWDM, carrier-neutral facilities, diverse routing, and last-mile delivery models
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate complex carrier agreements, IRUs, and dark fiber leases
  • Experience managing telecom infrastructure delivery from design through commissioning, including MMR buildouts and structured cabling
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to track multiple concurrent fiber orders and carrier engagements across geographies
  • Ability to read and interpret telecom construction drawings, conduit plans, and site layouts
Bonus Points
  • Experience supporting hyperscale, colocation, or wholesale data center development
  • Existing carrier and dark fiber provider relationships in key US markets
  • Familiarity with network architecture concepts including BGP, IP transit, peering, and redundancy design
  • Exposure to international fiber markets or cross-border connectivity procurement
  • Experience standing up telecom programs from scratch at a fast-growing company
Benefits
  • Subsidized health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Equity (options) in a rapidly growing startup
  • 401(k) with 4% employer match
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Parental leave
  • Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA)
  • Commuter benefits

Make the best decision you can, document it, and adjust as the facts change. Move quickly on reversible decisions and take more care when security, safety, financial, employee, or customer risk is involved.
