Tax Partner / Of Counsel (7+ Years)

Direct Counsel is seeking a Tax Partner or Of Counsel to join a highly respected Am Law firm. This is an exceptional opportunity for a senior tax attorney to join a growing and collaborative Taxation, Trusts & Estates practice with strong firm leadership support and significant long-term growth potential.

The firm is seeking an experienced attorney with sophisticated transactional tax experience gained in a law firm environment. This role offers flexibility in office location, with opportunities available in Los Angeles, Orange County, or San Francisco. For the right candidate, there is also potential for a future practice group leadership role.

Responsibilities
  • Advise clients on the tax aspects of complex corporate and partnership transactions
  • Counsel clients on strategic and private equity M&A transactions
  • Provide domestic and international tax planning and structuring advice
  • Assist with private equity fund formation matters
  • Advise on capital markets transactions, financings, restructurings, and other sophisticated business matters
  • Collaborate closely with attorneys across multiple practice groups
  • Mentor junior attorneys and contribute to the continued growth of the practice
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 7 years of tax experience in a law firm setting
  • Strong background handling sophisticated transactional tax matters
  • Experience with partnership and corporate tax planning
  • Familiarity with private equity transactions and fund formation preferred
  • Excellent analytical, drafting, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • Interest in mentoring and contributing to strategic practice growth
  • LL.M. in Taxation preferred
  • Large law firm training preferred
