Avalon Risk Management (“Avalon”) is a specialty insurance broker with offices in major port cities throughout the country. We focus on the unique and exciting world of risk management and insurance products for the international trade and logistics industry. Avalon is a privately held company owned by our founding management team and we have celebrated over 25 years of success. We are looking for a reliable customer service professional. This position works from our Eastern regional headquarters located at 27 Congress St., Ste. 507, Salem, MA 01970.


With your base of professional customer service (preferably in Insurance or logistics), this role will expose you to our clients in the importing/exporting industry, and the various international programs we manage. If you want to work in an environment where you are learning something new every day, this is the opportunity for you. The main duties include:

  • Support our Account Managers and assist in servicing our existing clients.
  • Assist with bond-related administrative activities, shipment-specific insurance quotations, certificate of insurance issuance, and policy servicing/submissions/changes.
  • Process account changes, assist with premium collections, fielding phone calls, client communications, and more.
  • Learn our customer portals (EPIC, Indio) and provide excellent customer support
  • Handle the administrative support of the region and data organization as needed.

We are looking for someone who wants to grow their career in insurance. As such, our new hire must attain their Massachusetts Property and Casualty license within 120 days of hire. This is a condition of employment and Avalon will pay for all training and certification activities. Preference will be given to candidates who are already licensed, have previously been licensed, or have worked in an insurance related capacity before. Candidates must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. This position will require a strong work ethic, close attention to detail, and intermediate computer skills. Avalon is a premier provider of innovative insurance and surety solutions. This is a full-time, exempt (salaried) position with a starting base compensation range of $52,000-$65,000 per year.
