Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Analyst Subject Matter Expert (SME) Contractor Support Lead to provide advanced analytical expertise in direct support of government programs and initiatives. The Data Analyst SME Contractor Support Lead will serve as the primary contractor technical authority for all data analysis activities, delivering actionable insights, developing analytical frameworks, and advising government stakeholders on data strategy, methodology, and best practices. This role requires deep expertise in data analysis, strong communication skills, and the ability to translate complex data findings into clear, meaningful information for government customers at all levels. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of hands-on analytical proficiency, strategic thinking, and demonstrated experience operating in a government contracting environment to drive informed decision-making in support of government program objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Government Stakeholder Interface & Reporting

  • Serve as the primary contractor point of contact for all data analysis activities, reporting directly to government stakeholders including program managers, contracting officers, and senior leadership
  • Provide regular status updates, analytical findings, and program reporting to government customers in accordance with contract requirements and government-directed reporting schedules
  • Prepare and deliver formal briefings, technical reports, white papers, and data products to government stakeholders at all levels
  • Respond to government requests for information, data calls, and ad hoc analytical tasking in a timely and accurate manner
  • Maintain transparent and professional communication with government counterparts while operating within appropriate contractor roles and boundaries
  • Support government-led program reviews, technical interchange meetings (TIMs), milestone decision reviews, and data governance forums
  • Assist government stakeholders in understanding analytical findings, data limitations, and recommendations to support informed decision-making

Subject Matter Expertise & Technical Advisory

  • Serve as the recognized contractor technical authority and primary resource for all data analysis-related activities in support of the government program
  • Provide expert guidance to government stakeholders on data analysis methodologies, statistical techniques, and analytical best practices
  • Advise government program leadership and team members on data strategy, data governance, and the appropriate use of analytical tools and techniques
  • Evaluate and recommend analytical approaches, tools, and technologies to improve the quality and efficiency of government data analysis efforts
  • Stay current with emerging trends, technologies, and methodologies in data analytics and apply relevant advancements to government program needs
  • Ensure all analytical recommendations and products align with government standards, policies, and program objectives

Data Collection & Management

  • Identify, acquire, and integrate data from multiple government and contractor sources, including databases, APIs, flat files, and real-time data streams
  • Assess data quality, completeness, and reliability, and implement data cleaning and validation processes to ensure analytical accuracy in support of government requirements
  • Develop and maintain data dictionaries, metadata documentation, and data lineage records in accordance with government data management standards
  • Establish and enforce data management standards and best practices across the contractor team consistent with government direction
  • Collaborate with government data stewards, data engineers, and IT personnel to ensure data pipelines and storage solutions meet government analytical requirements
  • Ensure all data handling, storage, and transfer activities comply with applicable government security and data privacy requirements

Data Analysis & Interpretation

  • Design and execute complex quantitative and qualitative analyses to address government program objectives and stakeholder questions
  • Apply advanced statistical methods, predictive modeling, and machine learning techniques as appropriate to derive meaningful insights in support of government decision-making
  • Conduct trend analysis, pattern recognition, anomaly detection, and root cause analysis across large and complex government datasets
  • Develop and validate analytical models, algorithms, and frameworks to support government program decision-making
  • Interpret and contextualize analytical findings within the broader government program or operational environment
  • Clearly communicate analytical assumptions, limitations, and uncertainties to government stakeholders to ensure appropriate use of findings

Data Visualization & Reporting

  • Design and develop clear, compelling, and intuitive data visualizations, dashboards, and reports tailored to government stakeholder needs and preferences
  • Translate complex analytical results into concise, actionable insights for both technical and non-technical government audiences
  • Develop standardized reporting templates and visualization frameworks for recurring government analytical products and contract deliverables
  • Prepare and submit all required contract data requirements list (CDRL) deliverables related to data analysis on time and in accordance with government-approved formats
  • Utilize industry-leading visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or equivalent platforms approved for use within the government environment

Process Improvement & Innovation

  • Identify opportunities to improve data collection, processing, and analysis workflows to increase efficiency and analytical quality in support of government program objectives
  • Develop and implement repeatable, scalable analytical processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs) consistent with government requirements and approval
  • Introduce and champion innovative analytical approaches, automation, and tools to enhance government program capabilities, subject to government review and approval
  • Conduct lessons learned reviews and incorporate government feedback to continuously improve analytical products and processes
  • Propose process improvements and new analytical capabilities to government stakeholders with supporting justification and implementation plans
     

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements and Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field (Master's degree preferred)
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in data analysis, data science, or a related analytical discipline, with at least 3–5 years in a contractor support role interfacing directly with government customers
  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise in advanced statistical analysis, data modeling, and quantitative methods
  • Proficiency in data analysis programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, or equivalent
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, matplotlib, or equivalent
  • Strong experience with relational and non-relational database management systems
  • Proven ability to manage and analyze large, complex, and multi-source datasets in a government program environment
  • Thorough understanding of government contracting processes, roles, responsibilities, and reporting requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex findings to government senior leadership and non-technical audiences
