About the Facility – Atlanta VA Medical Center The Atlanta VA Medical Center (Joseph Maxwell Cleland Atlanta VA Medical Center) is one of eight medical centers in the VA Southeast Network (VISN 7), located on 26 acres in Decatur, Georgia. The facility provides comprehensive medical, surgical, mental health, and specialty care services to veterans throughout metro Atlanta and north Georgia. The radiology department features advanced diagnostic imaging capabilities including CT, MRI, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, and digital radiography.

Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive radiological interpretation of diagnostic imaging studies for inpatients and outpatients, including CT, MRI, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, and plain film radiography
  • Serve as a general radiological consultant to government medical personnel, physicians, and ancillary providers across all referring departments and facilities
  • Recommend and direct patient care and treatment related to diagnostic imaging, consulting with requesting physicians regarding appropriate imaging and findings
  • Provide technical direction for technologists and ancillary personnel in the radiology department during their duties
  • Provide consultation, report radiological diagnostic examinations, deliver interpretation of studies, and diagnose imaging findings
  • Ensure all reports are transcribed, uploaded to the hospital information system, and electronically signed in a timely manner
  • Participate in quality assurance, peer review, and continuing education activities as required
Requirements
  • A Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school
  • Completion of an accredited Radiology residency program
  • Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Diagnostic Radiology by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) or equivalent
  • Must possess a current, valid, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state, the District of Columbia, or a U.S. territory
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Radiologist within the last 2 years
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Experience in diagnostic radiology including CT, MRI, ultrasound, and plain film interpretation
  • Neuroradiology experience desired
