Job description

Join a busy, community Emergency Department in Sebring, Florida, providing compassionate, patient-centered care with strong APP support and a balanced schedule. This ongoing locums assignment is ideal for an experienced Emergency Medicine physician seeking a collaborative environment and consistent shifts.

Assignment details:

  • Facility: Community hospital ED
  • Annual volume: ~18,000 visits
  • ED size: 13 beds
  • Coverage: Single-physician shifts (7a–7p and 7p–7a)
  • APP support: 8 hours/day (off season); 10 hours/day (peak season)
  • Admission rate: ~15%
  • Dedicated senior ER for geriatric patients
  • EMR: MEDHOST
  • Duration: Ongoing locums coverage

Core responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage a broad range of emergency presentations
  • Provide clinical leadership and supervision for APPs and ED staff during shifts
  • Stabilize critically ill or injured patients and coordinate admissions or transfers
  • Work closely with nursing staff and hospitalists to optimize patient flow and care quality
  • Document all patient encounters accurately in the MEDHOST EMR

Qualifications:

  • ABEM or AOBEM board certification required
  • Active Florida medical license, or ability to obtain prior to start
  • Current ACLS, PALS, and ATLS certifications
  • Preferably two or more years of recent ED experience
