As an international nurse practitioner, your job is to travel overseas to provide patients with care at local medical facilities. In this role, you may go abroad with particular patients or stay in one place to support a medical program or agency. Your assigned location may be an area with personnel from your country of origin, such as military bases or consulates. You perform physical exams, handle a variety of patient demographics, consult with other caregivers, and prescribe medications. Some international nurse practitioners work in countries with specialized needs, such as mental health issues or frequent physical injuries.
