The International Academy of Macomb (IAM) is accepting applications from educators who are interested in teaching in an environment that will provide a unique blend of rigorous academic standards, practical career-related experiences, and intercultural learning opportunities focused on a challenging curriculum. Candidates must be enthusiastically committed to the educational goals of the International Baccalaureate Program and have demonstrated capacity to support students and staff in achieving expectations of high-level courses. The IAM provides an exceptional opportunity for the candidate to participate in the development of an outstanding educational program from its inception, enabling Macomb County students to become successful, productive members of a global society.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Valid Secondary State of Michigan Teaching Certificate with the necessary endorsements.
  • Demonstrated interest, ability, and experience working with high school students.
  • Demonstrated interest, ability, and experience working in an environment with a standardized, demanding curriculum.
  • Willingness to undertake the professional responsibilities intrinsic to an International Academy of academic rigor.
  • Ability to integrate instructional technology.
  • Advanced instructional technology skills, experience and knowledge.
  • Must pass criminal background check as required by School Safety Legislation.

UNIQUE ASPECTS WHICH SHOULD BE CONSIDERED BEFORE APPLYING:
  • International Baccalaureate teacher training during the summer and school year.
  • Extended school year and school day.
  • International mindedness focused across the curriculum, which involves cross-disciplinary planning, a focus on standards, inquiry-oriented pedagogical practices, and assessments for learning.
  • Involvement in enrichment activities, consisting of creativity, action, and service.
  • Professional duties may include homeroom monitor, product team advisor, class/club sponsor, and curriculum development.

SALARY/BENEFITS: Same salary and benefits as in the district the candidate is currently employed and additional compensation for the extended school year.
