Job Description

Location: NYC (Hybrid - at least 4 days onsite/week)

Visa Sponsorship: We offer sponsorship under specific treaty-based U.S. work visas, including TN  (for eligible Canadian, Mexican citizens). We do not support or transfer other visa types (e.g., H-1B). 

We are looking for a Senior Java Developer to join a Team of 7 developers in a leading financial institution in New York. This is a hands-on backend development role supporting highly visible applications across Fixed Income, Trading, Risk and other business areas.

The ideal candidate is a strong Java engineer who can contribute to development while progressively taking ownership of projects and working closely with business and technology stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain enterprise applications using Java, Spring and Spring Boot.
  • Contribute across the full SDLC, including development, testing, code reviews and production releases
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with local and offshore teams.
  • Take ownership of application delivery, stability and technical improvements.
  • Perform system design, technical analysis and proof of concepts.
  • Support application monitoring, upgrades and production issues.
  • Mentor junior developers when needed.
Qualifications
  • 8+ years of hands-on Java development experience.
  • 5+ years of Spring / Spring Boot experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Core Java, concurrency, collections and exception handling.
  • Experience with REST APIs and distributed applications.
  • Good SQL knowledge.
  • Experience with Git, Maven and CI/CD.
  • Messaging experience such as ActiveMQ, Kafka or similar.
  • Strong communication skills and proactive mindset.
  • Bachelor degree in Computer science, Engineering, Finance or Quantitative finance

Nice to Have

  • Angular experience.
  • Azure and OpenShift/container experience.
  • Financial Markets or Fixed Income knowledge.
