Job description

Job Description:
Serves as primary institutional manager for education abroad programs; advises students, coordinates with faculty and institutional departments, and maintains relationships with study abroad partners.
Serves as a Designated School Official (DSO) for F1 visa holders and Assistant Responsible Officer (ARO) for J visa holders. Regularly consults with Office of General Counsel with regard to international risk management, health, and safety.
Manages all phases of study abroad to include goals and objectives for promotion, application management and review, pre-departure orientation and reentry. Utilizes qualitative and quantitative data to guide decision-making. Analyzes the impact of student experiences through evaluations and outcomes assessments. Compiles and reports institutional study abroad data and trends to the Institute for International Education through the Open Doors report.

Essential Functions
  • Collaborates with student affairs, the registrar, business office, financial aid, and academic departments to ensure a smooth experience for all stakeholders in study abroad and international travel. This includes strategizing with stakeholders to assess policies for approval and transfer of international credit, fostering participation for underserved student populations, and increasing access for underrepresented academic disciplines. Oversees the approval of new programs.
  • Manages program billing, provider invoices and coordination with the business office on program costs.
  • Assists the Director with development and incorporation of guidelines for health and safety in all program planning.
  • Collaborates with the Director, Office of General Counsel, and the Provost to develop/adjust travel policy to mitigate risk in campus wide international and domestic travel.
  • Scans the Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC) and Department of State Travel Advisories to maintain familiarity with global political, social and environmental situations and advises travelers accordingly. Establishes protocols and assists Director and International Education Committee with development of policy relating to education abroad programs.
  • Supports and counsels students with regard to country-specific regulations, education abroad process, policies, and program procedures. Maintains and updates knowledge of institutional procedures, policies, and processes, types of programs and quality of services offered as they relate to student global learning outcomes.
  • Identifies and analyzes higher education trends in education abroad. Assesses student evaluations of programs offered to ensure academic rigor and quality of programming.
  • Manages affiliation agreements with other institutions and organizations, fostering mutually beneficial relationships with international partners.
  • Supports the Associate Director for International Student and Scholar Services as DSO and ARO. Maintains DHS certifications and supports regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinates Certificate of International Immersion application and review processes.
  • Additional related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and be collaborative while working with students, faculty, and program administrators.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with or ability to learn Terra Dotta platform.
  • The successful candidate must meet federal requirements to serve as a Designated School Official (DSO), which includes being a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident.
  • Master's degree, experience within a higher educational counseling/advising/student affairs environment, and study or other experience abroad is preferred.

Compensation:
The expected annual salary for this posting is between $62,000 - $71,000. Offers are based on factors such as qualifications, relevant experience, skills, internal equity, and market and organizational considerations.
