Job Overview

Gourmet Foods International is a specialty food distributor. We are a team-oriented organization that embraces innovation, collaboration, and professional growth.

We are seeking a Forklift Operator who is responsible for safely and efficiently handling products using powered industrial equipment in a warehouse and cold storage environment. This position plays a critical role in inventory movement, order fulfillment, receiving, and shipping operations while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, accuracy, and productivity.

What does your day look like? Some of your duties may include:

  • Safely operate stand-up forklifts, sit-down forklifts, reach trucks, and other material handling equipment
  • Load and unload over-the-road trucks and ocean containers
  • Receive, stock, move, and replenish palletized products within warehouse racking systems
  • Pick, pack, and stage customer orders with a strong focus on accuracy and efficiency
  • Build, wrap, sort, and transport pallets and packages throughout the facility
  • Utilize RF scanning equipment to track inventory movements and complete transactions
  • Verify product counts, locations, and order accuracy
  • Follow all food safety, quality, and warehouse safety procedures
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Assist with inventory and warehouse operations as needed

Things you need to be able to do:

  • Ability to safely operate powered industrial equipment or willingness to become certified
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to follow directions and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to meet productivity and quality expectations in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds, carry up to 50 pounds, and push or pull up to 30 pounds of force
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the shift
  • Ability to ascend and descend steps and safely navigate warehouse environments
  • Ability to work in multi-temperature environments ranging from -10°F to 65°F
  • Consistent, regular attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position. Employees must be able to work scheduled shifts, including overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed to support business and operational needs.

Things that are a plus but not a deal-breaker:

  • Previous forklift operating experience
  • Previous warehouse, distribution, or cold storage experience
  • Experience using RF handheld scanners or warehouse management systems
  • Forklift certification
  • Experience working in food distribution or logistics environments
