What does an international assignment manager do?

An International Assignment Manager is responsible for coordinating and managing the relocation of employees to different countries for work assignments. Their duties include overseeing visa and immigration processes, managing relocation logistics, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and supporting assignees throughout their international placement. To thrive as an International Assignment Manager, you need expertise in global mobility, HR policies, and cross-cultural management, often supported by a degree in HR, business, or international relations. Familiarity with global mobility software, immigration compliance systems, and certifications such as GMS (Global Mobility Specialist) are typically required.
