Senior Software Tools Engineer
Location is in Prescott, Arizona and NOT available for remote work.
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. Canyon AeroConnect stands as one of the world's leading suppliers of avionic-standard aircraft communications, navigation and audio/intercom systems. Canyon's products have been widely adopted and proven in-service across a wide range of civilian, paramilitary and military fixed-wing and rotorcraft applications. Over the years, we've become known as the benchmark in aircraft tactical communication and audio equipment for Air Ambulance, Law Enforcement, SAR, EMS, Electronic News Gathering, Military and Marine applications. Products include digital and analog radio/audio management systems, Tac/Com, VHF/UHF radio systems, intercoms, data interface accessories, and aural warning.
General Description:
The Software Engineer designs and implements real-time embedded software for Canyon AeroConnect's products, including software defined radios, navigation & communication radios, airborne servers, audio products and other similar products. This includes software design, coding, debugging, test and verification, documentation, and support of certification activities. It may include development of low-level drivers and real time embedded applications. It may also include development of customer facing application software used to configure Canyon's avionics products.
Key/Core Qualifications:
  • Software engineering skills within the majority of the following areas;
    • Expertise with Architecture/Design/Development of GUI based application software
    • Expertise with Microsoft .NET application technologies such as Forms, WPF, and WinUI
    • Expertise with design patterns such as MVVM, MVC, and MVP.
    • Expertise with interfacing applications to devices using technologies such as RS-232, RS-422, USB, and Ethernet
    • Expertise developing customer facing tools with compelling, intuitive, user interfaces
    • Expertise developing internal tools to increase productivity of the engineering team
    • Expertise in application installer technologies such as InstallShield
  • Expertise in C#
  • Significant experience with C, C++, and Python
  • Experience with DO-178B/C tool qualification (DO-330)
  • Excellent analytic and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Significant experience with task estimation, scheduling, and software development metrics
  • Significant experience interfacing with customers to develop requirements.
  • Significant experience capturing and documenting requirements using industry standards such as epics, user stories, use cases, and requirements management tools.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • 5 years of experience in software tool architecture and development

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience in software tool architecture and development
  • Experience with embedded software development
  • Experience leading and mentoring junior engineers
  • Experience with application development within mobile devices (iPhone, iPad, Android, etc.)
  • Experience with cross platform tool development (Windows, Linux, Mac)
