We are seeking an Intermediate Web Applications Developer to join our Digital Customer Portal & Applications team. In this role, you will contribute to the hands-on development, delivery and support of modern customer-facing digital services, while growing your involvement in solution design and technical decision-making.

You will work in a collaborative, cross-functional environment focused on delivering reliable, secure, accessible, and user-friendly self-service capabilities across web and mobile platforms. This role is well suited to a developer with solid professional experience building production web applications who is ready to take on increasing delivery responsibility, deepen their technical judgment, and contribute to team practice.

Your key focus and deliverables may include the following:

  • Development and Delivery: Build, enhance, and maintain front-end and back-end components for web and mobile applications, contributing hands-on across the full development lifecycle. Contribute to high-quality, maintainable solutions through strong engineering practices, including testing and code reviews.
  • DevOps, Security & Operational Support:ย Apply DevOps practices to support continuous delivery, system reliability, and operational efficiency, including participating in operational support, triage, and incident resolution. Support configuration and maintenance of edge security controls for public-facing applications, including WAF and DDoS protection, to ensure secure and resilient service delivery.
  • Solution Design and Technical Input:ย Participate in solution design and technical discussions for digital services by sharing input, asking thoughtful questions, and helping assess practical implementation options. Support established architecture, integration patterns, technology choices, and team practices while continuing to build technical judgment and confidence.
  • Collaboration & Team Contribution: Collaborate closely with cross-functional team members to deliver customer-focused solutions and support agile delivery practices. Share knowledge with other developers and contribute to peer learning in a culture of continuous improvement.

Position Requirements

The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:

  • Relevant post-secondary education in computer science, HCI, or a related discipline
  • 3+ years of professional experience in developing and supportingย enterprise or large-scale web, including delivery of customer/public-facing digital solutions (web and/or mobile)
  • Demonstrated experience developingย production-grade, customer-facing web applications using React, Next.js, and Tailwind CSS, including component design, state management, responsive UI development, and adherence to web accessibility standards (WCAG)
  • Professional experience working with modern web application platforms and tools such as Contentful, Vercel, Elastic Search, and Cloudflare, or comparable technologies
  • Working knowledge of application deployment, performance, reliability, and secure development practices for public-facing or enterprise applications
  • Demonstrated ability toย contribute to technical design discussions and help translate business or user needs into practical technical solutions
  • Experience collaborating with product owners, UX, content, technical leads, and other developers in a cross-functional delivery environment
  • Experience withย version control and code management practices (e.g., Git), supporting collaborative development and reliable code integration
  • Experience applyingย software quality assurance practices, including unit, functional, and integration testing, test automation (e.g., Selenium, Cypress), and debugging and troubleshooting
  • Proven experience delivering solutions in Agile environments, with working knowledge of other delivery methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Waterfall) and ability to adapt to project and operational contexts
  • Proven experience supporting production environments, including incident, problem, and change management, with solid understanding ofย end-to-end software development lifecycles (build, release, and migration)

The following qualifications would be considered an asset:

  • Knowledge and understanding of interaction design practice, user research methodologies, etc
  • Understanding of best development practices for mobile applications
  • Familiarity withย authentication and identity integration patterns for web applications, including OAuth 2.0 and experience working with authentication libraries in modern front-end frameworks
  • Experience inย Dynatrace, Splunk, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Fullstory, or similar technologies
  • Exposure to developing and deploying applicationsย in cloud environments (e.g., AWS)

Work arrangement defined:

  • Hybrid 8 - you will work a minimum of 8 days in a 4-week period at your primary office headquarters (typically 2 days per week). The remaining days will be remote within British Columbia.ย  Please note there are updates to the hybrid model, starting September. This role will be moving to 2 days per week in office.
