Job description

The Allen County Public Library (ACPL), in partnership with the Friends of the ACPL, is seeking a creative and motivated intern to support marketing, communications, and merchandising initiatives. This internship offers a hands-on opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects that enhance community engagement and support the Library's mission.
The intern will work closely with ACPL's Marketing and Communications teams while supporting the Friends of the ACPL in expanding their outreach, retail, and fundraising efforts.
Internship Details
  • Duration: 120-150 hours
  • Schedule: Flexible; can include scheduled remote hours
  • Compensation: $750 stipend
  • Academic Requirement: Must be coordinated with the student's college or university for academic credit or approval
What You'll Do
  • Collaborate with ACPL Marketing, Communications, and Digital teams on strategic initiatives supporting the Friends of the ACPL
  • Develop proposals to standardize book sale displays and merchandising for improved consistency and customer experience
  • Research, conceptualize, and design future merchandise for the Friends' store, including a multi-year product roadmap
  • Assist in planning and executing marketing campaigns for the Friends' merchandise store and Gold Card membership program
  • Create a bank of social media content, including graphics, captions, and campaign ideas
  • Design concepts and budgets for a trade show-style outreach table for use at community events
  • Support marketing campaign strategy, including branding, messaging, and audience engagement
  • Contribute to graphic design projects and promotional materials as needed
  • Present a final proposal and project outcomes to the Friends of the ACPL
What You Bring
  • Current undergraduate or graduate student in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Public Relations, or a related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with social media platforms and content creation
  • Basic to intermediate graphic design skills (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar tools)
  • Interest in branding, merchandising, and community outreach
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines independently
  • Collaborative mindset and willingness to work across teams
