Overview
The Philadelphia Gas Works (PGW) is the largest municipally owned gas utility in the nation, supplying gas service in the City of Philadelphia to over 500,000 customers. Philadelphia Gas Works (PGW) is offering internships/co-ops for the Project Management Intern will support the Project Management Office (PMO) by assisting Project Managers with project coordination, documentation, and process adherence. This role provides hands-on exposure to project lifecycle activities, project governance, and organizational processes, while contributing to the successful execution of enterprise initiatives. Opportunities are available during the academic/calendar year and summer months.
The PGW Internship Program is designed for students currently enrolled FULL-TIME at an accredited college or university with a sophomore classification or above ONLY.

Responsibilities
Provides hands-on exposure to project lifecycle activities, project governance, and organizational processes, while contributing to the successful execution of enterprise initiatives.
  • Experience with Project Scheduling tool (examples: Jira, MS Project, Planner), Microsoft Office applications, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, Vizio, etc.

Job related duties for project management intern:
  • Present changes at Change Management Meeting
  • Guide small defects through defect resolution process
  • Ensure all projects have project documentation using PM templates
    • Draft PM documents using template and provide to PM for approval and finalization
    • Organize project online (soon to be confluence) folders to keep documents clean and accessible
  • Assist PMs as needed in updating status reports (soon to be one page status slide)
  • Conduct research as needed on software solutions and best practices
  • Facilitate project meetings in the absence of Project Manager (with advance notice from PM) including capture of action items resulting from the meetings
  • Assist Project Manager updating project schedule

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Services, Project Management, or a or other related field of study and currently enrolled in Graduate School OR currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Business Administration, Information Services, Project Management Studies or other related field of study as a Junior or Senior.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with customers and employees.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate and influence others in the best interest of PGW while maintaining professional effective business relationships.
  • Be able to commit to 15-20 hours per week to the program (year-round interns);
