Job description

Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology invites applicationsfor the position of Events Manager within the Union & Student ActivitiesOffice. This position plays a vital role in enhancing the student experienceoutside the classroom by supporting the successful planning, coordination, andexecution of a wide range of campus and community events. The Events Managerserves as the primary coordinator for reservations and event operations withinthe Student Union and Campus Chapel, managing both internal and external eventrequests and serving as the lead administrator of the Institute's eventmanagement system. Working closely with campus partners, clients, and serviceproviders, this position coordinates event logistics, room setups, audiovisualservices, catering, and other special event requirements to ensure exceptionalservice and a seamless event experience.

The Events Manager is responsible for maintainingevent-related inventories and organizing multiple storage areas within theStudent Union. The role assists the Director with the recruitment, training,scheduling, and supervision of student employees, providing leadership andon-site oversight during event setups and operations. Additionally, the EventsManager works directly with external clients to coordinate site visits andmanage contracts, insurance documentation, and other risk management requirementsassociated with facility use.

This position also supports the day-to-day operation andmaintenance of the Student Union and Campus Chapel by identifying facilityneeds, submitting and monitoring work orders, coordinating equipment repairs,and facilitating routine maintenance and custodial activities. Administrativeresponsibilities include processing invoices, check requests, and purchasingcard reconciliations; preparing and managing external contracts; andmaintaining accurate and current information on internal and external websitesrelated to the Student Union and Chapel. The Events Manager performs otherduties as assigned in support of departmental goals and the Institute'smission, contributing to a welcoming, engaging, and well-managed campusenvironment.

Qualified candidates will possess an associate degree inbusiness, communications, marketing, or a related field, along with two tothree years of experience in event planning, scheduling, facility operations,or venue management. Experience utilizing event management software andreservation systems is required. Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of riskmanagement practices, contract administration, insurance requirements, andevent safety protocols. The successful candidate will have the ability to effectivelymanage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintainingexceptional attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills. Excellentverbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are essential, as isthe ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of internal andexternal stakeholders. Strong analytical, organizational, and projectmanagement skills are required, with a proven ability to coordinate complextasks and ensure successful event execution and operational efficiency.
In addition to these qualifications, preferred candidateswill have a bachelor's degree in business, communication, or marketing andthree to five years of event planning, scheduling, and building managementexperience. Experience in higher education is strongly preferred. Experienceusing Cvent Event Diagramming is preferred. The ability to build collaborativerelationships is highly desired, as is the ability to read and interpretdocuments such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, andprocedure manuals.

Salary range is 53,000 - 59,000. Salary is competitive.A higher salary may be negotiated based on experience and qualifications.
