CIBC is building a relationship-oriented bank for a modern world. Our role is to maintain an effective control environment and oversee the sound risk management of our bank, consistent with our Risk Appetite Statement. We help safeguard our reputation and brand while providing proactive advice and oversight of CIBC's compliance with regulatory requirements, including those related to consumer and investor protection, sales practices, securities trading, and anti-money laundering.
Reporting to the Head of Cybersecurity, Fraud & Technology Risk Management, the Sr. Manager, Operational Risk is accountable for conducting an independent review of the Bank's Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Risks through the use of various risk management assessment, monitoring tools, and reporting. The position fulfills the role of second line of defense (2nd LOD) covering AI and Data risks.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Establish and provide challenge in the development and maintenance for AI and Data practices across the first line of defense.
  • Provide support in the operational risk activities and assists in the risk and control self-assessments, risk reviews, gap analysis, and control assessments around Data and AI risks.
  • Act as the 2nd LOD Subject Matter Expertise (SMEs) and provide credible challenge to the lines of business and the respective risk partners.
  • Establish and maintain cross-functional working relationship which includes parent-bank risk management colleagues, risk owners from first line of defense, functional groups of LOBs, Internal Audit, and regulators.
  • Assist leaders of the organization to understand key value drivers and challenges within their business units in relation to AI and Data risks, and enable the determination and monitoring of KPIs/KRIs that can help improve performance as a result.
  • Support the US Operational Risk Management team with AI and Data risk management related topics as the resident AI risk management subject matter expert. #LI-TA

CROSS-FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
  • The role works in close collaboration with leaders across the organization when challenging/discussing risks in relation to AI and Data risk.
  • The role also partners with various risk management groups including parent-bank, risk owners, and other governance functions and regulators to deliver on the accountabilities of the role.

  • As an employee of CIBC, the incumbent must comply with all applicable CIBC and Line of Business policies, standards, guidelines and controls.

  • As a key contributor to the business unit, this job has the authority to recommend changes to business processes in order to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Who You Are
  • Bachelor's degree in business, information systems, risk management, technology or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience with technology, AI, and Data based on industry standard frameworks (example DCAM) and/or regulatory requirements
  • Industry relevant certifications or equivalent preferred
  • Experience with risk reviews, assessments, testing, and/or evaluation of control environment, risk mitigations, and compliance with various industry standards and regulatory requirements
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) skills with ability to present technical information in clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences; including technology SMEs, senior management, and/or regulators
  • Ability to work under pressure and creatively solve problems

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $150,000 - $175,000 for the market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit's incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
