Accounting & Compliance Intern


Position Summary

Nectar Consulting is seeking an Accounting & Compliance Intern to support a variety of accounting, regulatory compliance, operations, and administrative projects for a diverse client base, including financial services businesses. This internship is ideal for a college student interested in gaining practical exposure to accounting, broker-dealer and investment adviser compliance, audit support, and business operations in a professional services environment.


The intern will assist with recurring tasks, project-based assignments, and documentation coordination across accounting and compliance functions. This role offers hands-on learning, exposure to regulated business environments, and insight into how accounting, supervision, and compliance processes work together to support clients. Limited support may also be requested for marketing coordination and basic graphic design projects.


Key Responsibilities

Accounting Support

  • Assist with the daily issuance of invoices and related tracking.
  • Help organize and maintain accounting records and supporting documentation.
  • Support collection, sorting, and filing of backup for financial and operational records.
  • Assist with preparing materials needed for internal reporting and client deliverables.
  • Help ensure documentation is complete, organized, and maintained in accordance with internal standards.


Audit/Exam & Regulatory Support

  • Assist with audit/exam record requests, including gathering, organizing, and tracking requested documents.
  • Help collect and prepare materials needed for audits, examinations, and internal reviews.
  • Organize supporting documents for regulatory and compliance files.
  • Maintain logs and status trackers for open requests and outstanding items.
  • Support supervisors in preparing records and documentation for review.


Compliance & Supervisory Support

  • Assist with supervisory procedure coordination and preparation.
  • Support the organization and updating of written supervisory and compliance materials.
  • Help with supervisory control review preparation, testing support, and documentation tracking.
  • Assist with communications review processes, including organizing, logging, and preparing materials for review.
  • Help maintain internal records and files related to compliance monitoring and supervisory processes.


Client & Operational Coordination

  • Support customer deliverable coordination, including assembling, tracking, and organizing client-facing materials.
  • Assist with project tracking and follow-up on recurring operational tasks.
  • Help maintain organized workflows across multiple assignments and deadlines.
  • Provide administrative and project support to supervisors as needed.


Marketing & Creative Support

  • Provide limited support for the social media marketing calendar.
  • Assist with basic graphic design and formatting of marketing or business materials.
  • Help organize content, schedules, and supporting files for marketing-related activities.
  • Support special projects requiring a mix of administrative, operational, and creative assistance.


Qualifications

Required

  • Current college student pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Comfort working with Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Word, and Outlook) and Google applications, especially
  • Willingness to learn, ask questions, and take initiative in completing assigned work.


Preferred

  • Interest in finance (investments and institutions), real estate businesses and funds, accounting, compliance, financial services, operations, or regulatory environments.
  • Prior internship, campus leadership, administrative experience, or office experience.
  • Familiarity with spreadsheets, document organization, and professional written communication.
  • Interest or experience in social media coordination, Canva, or basic graphic design tools.
  • Interest in learning about broker-dealers, investment advisers, internal controls, and regulatory processes.
