Full-time, Internship

Job description

VitalSource®, is hiring an Intern to contribute to our Customer Success team located in Raleigh, North Carolina. This is a full-time internship with a required on-site expectation.

The Virtual Store Branding & Marketing Intern partners with college and university clients to launch and optimize VitalSource's managed virtual store platform. You'll consult on branding strategy, build store prototypes, manage client approvals, and audit institutional websites to boost referral traffic — all while collaborating cross-functionally with Marketing, Integrations, and Client Services teams. A great opportunity to gain real-world ed-tech experience with immediate impact.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Branding & Marketing Consultation

  • Partner with college and university clients migrating to VitalSource's new virtual store platform, consulting on branding decisions and marketing best practices for student-facing stores.
  • Document client preferences, brand guidelines, and approval requirements to ensure a clear handoff into production.

Prototype Build & Approval

  • Build working store prototypes using VitalSource's internal simulation tool, walk clients through review sessions, and iterate until formal approval is received.
  • Export approved configurations, submit to the Integrations team for production, and track each client's status from kickoff through launch, flagging risks to the Strategic Virtual Store Manager.

Site Audit & Awareness Recommendations

  • Audit each institution's .edu site to evaluate how the virtual store is surfaced and identify gaps in awareness and referral traffic.
  • Prepare written recommendations and best practices for discoverability and student adoption, and coordinate with VitalSource Marketing on complementary awareness campaigns.

Post-Production Follow-Up

  • Conduct follow-up reviews to confirm production builds match approved prototypes, document lessons learned, and escalate post-launch issues to the appropriate internal team.

Other Duties

  • Support cross-functional initiatives, participate in team meetings and training, and identify opportunities to improve activation, branding, and audit workflows. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program; coursework in marketing, communications, graphic design, business, or a related field preferred.
  • Prior coursework, internship, or project experience involving branding, marketing, web/digital content, or client services is a plus.
  • Familiarity with higher education environments (as a student, RA, campus employee, etc.) preferred.

Preferred Skills:

Technical Skills

  • Comfort learning new web-based tools; ability to pick up VitalSource's internal branding simulation tool quickly.
  • Working knowledge of design fundamentals (color, typography, hierarchy) and how brand identity translates to digital experiences.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and collaboration tools (Teams, Outlook).
  • Basic familiarity with web concepts—navigation, CMS pages, links, referral traffic—sufficient to audit a .edu site and document findings.
  • Comfort with structured documentation: case creation, status tracking, written client recommendations.

Soft Skills & Competencies

  • Strong written and verbal communication; able to present prototypes and recommendations to institutional stakeholders.
  • Client-service mindset with attention to detail and a willingness to iterate on feedback.
  • Ability to manage multiple client engagements in parallel and keep work organized.
  • Self-starter who can work independently while knowing when to escalate.
  • Curiosity about higher education, ed-tech, and how brand experience drives student engagement.

Salary Range: $20.00 to $25.00 per hour
