Job Description


The Marketing & Events Intern will help coordinate a variety of events across four departments served by the School of Humanities & Global Studies. Learning from experienced staff, this internship will provide valuable hands-on experience in coordinating logistics and timelines ensuring the smooth operation of events.


Job Duties

  • Meets with designated event leads to plan and organize event logistics
  • Attends events as scheduled (weekdays including some evenings and occasional weekend)
  • Contacts and coordinates various vendors including facility services, catering, speakers etc.
  • Provides event set up and support
  • Develops marketing materials to promote events

Skills/Requirements

  • Excellent organizational and task management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with MS Office applications, Canva or other graphic design programs
  • Trustworthy, dependable, positive attitude
  • Creative problem solving and attention to detail
  • Time management skills and ability to work independently to meet deadlines
  • Prior experience coordinating events is preferred.

Required Qualifications

To qualify for this internship, applicants must be enrolled in at least twelve undergraduate credits per semester, be in good academic standing with the University, and maintain a 3.5 in-major GPA.


Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in events/marketing.

Student Learning/Internship Outcomes

Within this position, the intern will:

  • Gain practical event coordinator experience
  • Gain practical marketing experience
  • Create two professional goals (in collaboration with supervisor) to support individual career pursuits

Compensation

$13.00/hour

Hours

This position requires the ability to work approximately 6 hours per week. Most of the hours for this position will fall between 8AM-4:30PM, Monday through Friday; however, the schedule will be flexible based on events.
