Position Overview

Kiewit Industrial & Water Engineering is seeking a Building Electrical E ngineer Intern for the Kiewit Architecture and Engineering (KAE) group. We are looking for ideal candidates to grow the Kiewit team by helping establish, maintain, and improve company standards and tools while also utilizing these standards and tools to contribute to project success. Candidates shall be familiar with current drawing and technical tools, programs, and software with an understanding of design documentation creation and layouts. Candidates shall be capable of exhibiting flexibility in work assignments while maintaining a growth mindset and continuing to develop in their technical and professional career.

Location

This position is based in our Lenexa, KS office.

Responsibilities

  • Close to moderate supervision by a more experienced architect and/or engineer.
  • Develops familiarity with departmental design standards, applicable codes, policies, guidelines, and standards.
  • Assisting in developing building lighting, power and distribution designs, including minor telecom and security provisions, on various projects and building types.
  • Performing Revit modeling and/or coordinating with BIM staff for completion.
  • Assisting in completing calculations for lighting, electrical loading, short circuit, voltage drop, and energy code.
  • Project coordination with others inside and outside of Industrial Building Group.
  • Assisting with creating and maintaining department standards and tools.
  • Assisting with building estimating deliverable completion

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architectural Engineering (with an electrical focus)
  • GPA above 3.0 preferred
  • Familiar with Revit and Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with lighting design software and Bluebeam a plus
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
