What is a remote internship?

A remote internship is a temporary work experience where interns perform tasks and projects for a company or organization from a location outside of the traditional office, usually from home. These internships leverage digital communication tools such as email, video conferencing, and online collaboration platforms to connect interns with their supervisors and teams. Remote internships offer flexibility, allow students and recent graduates to gain professional experience regardless of geographic location, and help develop valuable remote work skills. They are available across various fields, including marketing, technology, finance, and more.

How do remote interns typically stay connected with their team and receive feedback during their internship?

Remote interns often use collaboration tools such as Slack, Microsoft Teams, or Zoom to stay in touch with their team members and supervisors. Regular check-ins, virtual team meetings, and scheduled one-on-one sessions are common practices for providing guidance and feedback. Interns are encouraged to proactively reach out with questions and updates, as open communication is key to a successful remote internship experience. Many organizations also set up mentorship programs or buddy systems to help interns feel supported and integrated into the company culture.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Intern, you need a basic understanding of your field of study, strong organizational skills, and enrollment in a relevant educational program. Familiarity with digital collaboration tools like Zoom, Slack, Google Workspace, and project management software is typically expected. Proactive communication, time management, and the ability to work independently are standout soft skills in this role. These abilities ensure you can contribute effectively, stay engaged, and build professional relationships despite the virtual work environment.

Remote work for aspiring part-time medical assistants or premed students. The Role

Are you an aspiring healthcare professional looking to make an impact while you study? Springboard is seeking a motivated, research-oriented intern to help us build the ultimate resource hub for allied health students.

In this role, you will bridge the gap between clinical knowledge and digital storytelling. You will dive deep into the requirements of the healthcare industry and create the "blueprint" for success for future Medical Assistants, Phlebotomists, and CNAs.

Key Responsibilities

Your work will directly influence the career paths of thousands of students. You will be responsible for:

  • Strategic Research: Investigating certification pathways, state-by-state regulations, and the evolving challenges of the medical assistant profession.
  • Expert Content Creation: Drafting authoritative articles, "Day in the Life" guides, and career roadmaps for aspiring allied health workers.
  • Multimedia Storytelling: Scripting and recording short-form video content that highlights the daily realities, skills, and rewards of working in a clinical setting.
  • Resource Development: Identifying "pain points" for students and developing checklists or study guides to help them succeed.
What We're Looking For
  • Career Alignment: You are currently a pre-med student or aspiring toward a career as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), CNA, Nurse, or Technician.
  • Strong Communicator: You can translate complex medical or regulatory information into engaging, fluent English for a wide audience.
  • Digital Native: Comfortable recording video content and using digital research tools.
  • Detail-Oriented: You have a "clinical" eye for detail and can ensure all research is accurate and up-to-date.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Ability to pass a mandatory background check.
