Intern Private High School Coaching Jobs (NOW HIRING)

We are seeking an experienced, engaging tutor to support a rising 9th-grade student in the Thompson's Station, Tennessee area. This is an excellent opportunity for an educator who enjoys building strong relationships with adolescents, providing well-rounded academic support, and helping students develop the organization, study habits, and independence needed to succeed in high school.

The family is looking for consistent weekly support with a strong emphasis on executive functioning, academic accountability, and helping the student navigate the transition into high school with confidence.

• Provide individualized, one-on-one academic support across the student's core high school subjects.
• Support the transition into 9th grade by helping the student adjust to increased academic expectations, workload, and independence.
• Strengthen executive-functioning skills, including organization, planning, time management, prioritization, study skills, and assignment management.
• Help the student develop effective systems for tracking assignments, preparing for tests, managing long-term projects, and meeting deadlines.
• Identify academic gaps or areas where additional instruction and reinforcement may be needed.
• Help the student become a more active, confident, and independent participant in their education.
• Provide support with current coursework while also teaching strategies and habits that can be applied across classes.
• Adjust support based on student progress, school expectations, upcoming assignments, and areas of need.
• Build a strong, positive relationship that encourages confidence, accountability, and a growth mindset.
• Communicate regularly with the family regarding progress, priorities, and recommendations for continued support.

• Has prior teaching or tutoring experience with middle and/or high school students.
• Understands the academic and organizational demands students face when transitioning into high school.
• Has experience supporting executive-functioning skills, particularly organization, planning, time management, study habits, and assignment management.
• Is comfortable providing well-rounded academic support across multiple subjects.
• Can balance immediate academic needs with the development of long-term skills and independence.
• Is organized, proactive, dependable, and able to provide consistent weekly support.
• Brings a warm, engaging approach while also providing appropriate structure and accountability.
• Communicates clearly and professionally with parents.
• Is comfortable individualizing support based on a student's strengths, needs, and evolving academic demands.

Requirements

• Has strong experience teaching or tutoring middle and/or high school students.
• Can provide effective academic support across a range of subjects and assignments.
• Has experience building executive-functioning skills, including organization, planning, time management, prioritization, and study habits.
• Can help a student develop systems for managing coursework, assignments, tests, and longer-term projects.
• Helps students become more confident, engaged, accountable, and independent learners.
• Is responsive and able to adjust support based on student progress and school expectations.
• Brings warmth, patience, structure, creativity, and a genuine ability to connect with adolescents.
• Is organized, dependable, and values consistent communication and collaboration with families.

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Education, Secondary Education, Special Education, or a related field.
• Active teaching license preferred.
• Prior experience as a classroom teacher, learning specialist, academic coach, tutor, or similar educational professional.
• Experience working with middle and high school students strongly preferred.
• Experience explicitly teaching executive-functioning, organization, and study skills.
• Experience helping students transition successfully into the increased academic demands of high school.
• Experience using student work, grades, assessments, or other performance information to identify areas of need and guide support.

Benefits

• $50-$90 per hour, commensurate with experience, credentials, and scope of support
• Part-time, 1099 contractor role with consistent weekly hours
• Opportunity for ongoing, long-term work with the family

• Location: Thompson's Station, Tennessee; primarily in-home
• Schedule: Consistent weekly tutoring at mutually agreed-upon times
• Commitment: Ongoing academic and executive-functioning support throughout the school year
• Start Date: Family is prepared to move forward within the next 1-2 weeks
• Scheduling: Family has flexibility and is open to establishing a consistent schedule with the right educator

The goal is to create a consistent weekly rhythm that allows the educator to build a strong relationship with the student, understand his academic strengths and needs, and provide support that goes beyond traditional homework help.

As the student enters 9th grade, you'll provide well-rounded academic support while helping him develop stronger systems for managing assignments, preparing for assessments, organizing materials, prioritizing responsibilities, and keeping up with an increasingly demanding workload.
