This position is best suited for engineers who excel in problem-solving, collaboration, and technical excellence within a dynamic consulting environment. This is not a remote position.
- Build and maintain detailed transmission network models for steady-state, dynamic stability, and short-circuit analysis using PSSE, PSLF, TARA, ETAP, ASPEN, or equivalent tools.
- Perform power flow, contingency, transient stability, voltage stability, and short-circuit simulations to assess system performance and develop recommendations.
- Support generator interconnection evaluations for both conventional and inverter-based resources, including BESS, solar, wind, and hybrid facilities.
- Perform studies and prepare documentation for Feasibility, System Impact, and Facility Studies under SGIP/LGIP or equivalent frameworks.
- Conduct analyses in accordance with NERC transmission planning and protection standards, including:
- FAC-008 (Facility Ratings)
- PRC-010 (Under-Voltage Load Shedding Programs)
- CIP-014 (Physical Security)
- Other applicable TPL, MOD, and PRC standards relevant to planning and protection compliance.
- Review and interpret study results, identify system limitations or reliability risks, and propose technical solutions or mitigation measures.
- Collaborate with utilities, ISOs/RTOs, and developers to ensure compliance with interconnection and reliability processes.
- Contribute to internal procedures, data management practices, and study standardization initiatives supporting reliability compliance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 4+ years of progressive experience in transmission planning, system studies, or related power system engineering roles.
- Demonstrated experience performing steady-state, transient stability, and short-circuit analyses with industry-standard software (PSSE, PSLF, TARA, ETAP, ASPEN).
- Working knowledge of NERC reliability standards, including TPL, FAC, PRC, and CIP series.
- Understanding of interconnection study processes and planning requirements across ERCOT, PJM, MISO, ISO-NE, NYISO etc...
- Strong technical writing and communication skills, with experience delivering client-ready reports and presentations.
- Preferred:
- Experience supporting compliance or study work under FAC-008, PRC-010, and CIP-014.
- Knowledge of UVLS, UFLS, or other protection coordination programs under PRC standards.
- Experience conducting System Impact or Facility Studies for transmission-connected resources.
