Job Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience required
- Strong background in high-acuity, high-paced maternal-newborn care
- Experience circulating for C-sections is required
- Baby nurse and newborn care experience required, including eyes/thighs assessment and newborn assessments
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required
- Active compact or state RN license in hand at time of submission
- Epic experience required
- Current supervisory references required
- Proof of required certifications must be submitted
- Ability to work weekends and holidays as scheduled
- Must be comfortable floating within maternal-child services as needed
Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate care for laboring patients and newborns in a high-volume Labor & Delivery setting
- Circulate for cesarean deliveries and support operative obstetric procedures
- Serve as baby nurse during delivery and continue newborn care until transfer to postpartum
- Perform newborn assessments, including eyes/thighs, vital support measures, and initial stabilization
- Monitor and manage patients receiving therapies such as magnesium sulfate, insulin, and heparin
- Support high-risk obstetric patients with complex labor and delivery needs
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary maternal-newborn team to deliver efficient, AWHONN-aligned care
- Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and follow unit protocols closely
- Provide flexibility to float between postpartum, antepartum, and related sister units when needed
