Do you have a passion for climbing, adventure, and creating unforgettable experiences? Ponte Vedra Inn & Club is seeking enthusiastic, safety-focused Wall Climbing Instructors to lead exciting climbing experiences on our state-of-the-art 40-foot outdoor rock climbing wall.
Whether you're introducing a child to climbing for the first time or helping an experienced climber build confidence, you'll play an important role in creating memorable moments for our members and hotel guests-all while delivering the exceptional service expected from a Forbes luxury resort.
Full-Time & Part-Time Opportunities Available
Flexible scheduling, including weekends, holidays, and early mornings.
What You'll Do
Every climb starts with safety, confidence, and encouragement. As a Wall Climbing Instructor, you will:
  • Welcome members and guests while providing exceptional customer service.
  • Conduct safety orientations, equipment fitting, and climbing instruction for participants ages 6 and older.
  • Teach proper belay techniques and climbing fundamentals for beginners and returning climbers.
  • Supervise multiple climbing stations while maintaining a safe instructor-to-climber ratio.
  • Perform daily inspections of harnesses, helmets, ropes, belay systems, anchors, and climbing equipment.
  • Enforce all climbing wall safety procedures and emergency protocols.
  • Respond quickly and professionally to incidents or emergencies.
  • Assist with private lessons, youth programs, camps, birthday parties, and special events.
  • Process guest check-ins, waivers, reservations, and activity participation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming climbing environment.
  • Participate in ongoing training, certification renewals, and safety drills.
  • Support the Head Climbing Instructor with daily operations and program improvements.

What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is:

Qualifications
  • Minimum one (1) year of climbing instruction or related recreational experience preferred.
  • Experience working with children and adults of varying skill levels.
  • Previous resort, private club, recreation, or hospitality experience is a plus.
  • Strong communication and guest service skills.
  • Comfortable using basic computer systems for bookings and waivers.

Required Certifications
  • Climbing Wall Association (CWA) Climbing Wall Instructor (Level 1 minimum; advanced certifications preferred).
  • Current CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification.
  • Additional climbing or outdoor recreation certifications are a plus.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to climb at an intermediate level (5.8+ top-rope preferred).
  • Ability to work comfortably at height and perform climbing rescues.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand, walk, climb, bend, and work outdoors for extended periods.
  • Maintain a professional appearance consistent with Ponte Vedra Inn & Club standards.
