Intern Performance Tester information

What is an intern performance tester?

Intern Performance Testers are entry-level professionals, often students or recent graduates, who assist in evaluating how well software applications perform under various conditions. Their main responsibilities include designing and running performance tests, analyzing results, and helping identify bottlenecks or issues that could impact the user experience. Working closely with senior testers and developers, they gain hands-on experience in performance testing tools and methodologies. This role is a valuable starting point for a career in software quality assurance or testing.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an intern performance tester, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Intern Performance Tester, you generally need a basic understanding of software testing principles, familiarity with programming or scripting languages, and coursework or experience in computer science or information technology. Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, or similar platforms is often required, along with knowledge of operating systems and databases. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for identifying issues and collaborating with development teams. These skills and qualities enable accurate assessment of software performance, contributing to reliable and efficient applications.

What are some common challenges faced by an intern performance tester and how can they be overcome?

Intern Performance Testers often face challenges such as understanding complex testing tools, interpreting performance metrics, and adapting to fast-paced project timelines. To overcome these, it's helpful to seek guidance from senior testers, participate in team discussions, and engage in hands-on practice with tools like JMeter or LoadRunner. Regular feedback sessions and active collaboration with developers and QA engineers can also help interns quickly build confidence and improve their testing skills.

Job description

Position Summary

HeyGen is growing fast, and our growth marketing engine needs to keep pace. We're looking for a Growth Marketing Intern to support our growth lead - someone who can take strategy and turn it into live, optimized campaigns across paid channels, affiliate, and influencer programs.

Our Growth Marketing Intern will thrive in the weeds: launching campaigns, pulling keyword reports, adjusting bids, standing up A/B tests, and constantly looking for the next channel or angle to test. You'll work across Google, Meta, YouTube, Apple Search Ads, and emerging channels - we are constantly expanding. If you love the combination of analytical rigor and creative experimentation that defines great growth marketing, this role is for you.

This role is required to be in person, out of our LA (Playa Vista) office 3 days a week.ย

Core Responsibilities
  • Paid campaign execution & reporting: Launch, manage, and optimize campaigns across Google Ads (Search, PMax), Meta/Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and emerging channels (Reddit, ChatGPT, Apple Search Ads). Monitor performance daily and keep reporting on spend, CAC, and efficiency metrics.
  • Keyword research & bid management: Conduct ongoing keyword research, manage bid strategies, and adjust budgets based on performance
  • Testing & experimentation: Set up and run A/B tests and structured experiments across dimensions such as copy, messaging, creative, geo-targeting, incrementality, and audience
  • Influencer program support: Help manage day-to-day influencer operations - sourcing/managing relationships with micro-influencers, partner comms, performance monitoring, activation, invoicing
  • Agency & vendor management: Own day-to-day relationships with external agencies and vendors across podcast, creative, UGC, and affiliate channels - managing deliverables, timelines, and performance accountability
  • Creative performance analysis: Partner with in-house creative and agency teams to analyze what's working across ad creative, identify top performers, and feed data-driven insights back into future creative iterations
Requirements
  • Hands-on experience in growth marketing, performance marketing, or paid acquisition - internships and agency experience count
  • Proficiency in Google Ads and Meta Ads Manager; bonus if you've also worked in TikTok, YouTube, or other platforms
  • Comfortable pulling keyword reports, adjusting bids, and managing budgets day-to-day
  • Analytical and detail-oriented - you catch the typo in the ad copy, the misallocated budget, and the anomaly in yesterday's spend
  • Self-starter who can move fast with minimal hand-holding in a high-autonomy environment
Nice to Haves
  • Experience managing affiliate programs (Rewardful preferred)
  • Familiarity with mobile attribution and analytics tools, particularly AppsFlyer and Google Analytics 4
  • Exposure to app install campaigns and Apple Search Ads
  • Background in AI, video, or creative tools space

Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.ย  HeyGen considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, and internal equity, as well as location, market and business considerations when extending an offer.ย  As part of our total rewards package, HeyGen offers comprehensive benefits including a 401k plan, health benefits, generous PTO, a parental leave program and emotional health resources.
