University Behavioral Center of Orlando, a subsidiary of Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS), is committed to providing intensive mental health services to children, adolescents and adults as well as detox and substance abuse programs for adults. Our mental health facility provides safe and effective inpatient treatment to assist individuals in leading more productive and fulfilling lives. The facility is located on a beautiful 14-acre campus in Orlando, Florida, and includes 112 licensed beds.

Position Summary

University Behavioral Center is seeking a motivated and compassionate Clinical Therapist Intern to join our multidisciplinary behavioral health team. This internship provides graduate-level counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy students with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in an acute psychiatric hospital setting while developing clinical assessment, treatment planning, group facilitation, and case management skills.

Under the supervision of licensed clinicians, the Therapist Intern will participate in the delivery of therapeutic services to children, adolescents, adults, and/or families experiencing mental health and behavioral health challenges.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Observe and participate in psychosocial assessments and clinical evaluations.
  • Co-facilitate therapeutic groups and psychoeducational sessions.
  • Assist in developing and implementing individualized treatment plans.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings.
  • Provide support with discharge planning and coordination of community resources.
  • Complete clinical documentation in accordance with facility standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and ethical guidelines.
  • Participate in clinical supervision and professional development activities.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Master's degree program in:
    • Social Work (MSW)
    • Mental Health Counseling
    • Clinical Psychology
    • Marriage and Family Therapy
    • Related behavioral health field
  • Eligible to complete a field placement or practicum through an accredited academic institution.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations.
  • Commitment to professionalism, ethical practice, and patient-centered care.
