Duration: 20 weeks (Part-Time, 8 hours a week) Location: New York, NY (Hybrid)

SCOPE OF ROLE

This internship is designed to provide hands-on exposure to nonprofit fundraising strategy, with a particular emphasis on food access, community nutrition, and food security programs.

The internship intentionally aligns with the nonprofit fundraising calendar, with summer months representing the most intensive period due to a high volume of grant opportunities, RFP releases, and foundation deadlines. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct proactive fundraising research focused on food security, nutrition access, and community-based food programs
  • Identify and track foundation, corporate, and government funding opportunities, including deadlines, eligibility criteria, and funding priorities
  • Maintain and update fundraising research trackers, calendars, and prospect lists
  • Support the program development team with early-stage grant preparation, including summarizing RFPs, drafting opportunity briefs, and compiling background materials
  • Monitor seasonal funding trends and help anticipate upcoming opportunities, particularly during peak summer grant cycles  Assist with additional food security fundraising tasks as needed, including data gathering, impact research, and donor landscape analysis
Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Enrolled in a master's (preferred) or undergraduate program with a focus on Public Health, Social Work, Food Justice, or relevant field.
  • Strong interest in nonprofit fundraising, program development, or food security
  • Excellent research, organization, and timemanagement skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fastpaced environment
  • Strong written communication and attention to detail
