Qualifications:
Experience: You qualify for the WG-10 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:

• Performing building maintenance, construction, and repair utilizing knowledge and application of trades such as electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry, pipefitting, air-conditioning and refrigeration.
• Ensure continual, safe, and proper operation of all building systems to include, but not limited to the upkeep of buildings, grounds and related structures, fixtures, and utilities.
• Interpreting blueprints, electrical schematics, drawings and specifications, and other technical guides.
• Working with test instruments, measuring devices, and hand and power tools.
• Utilizing shop mathematics such as measuring fittings and assessing the planning and layout of piping systems to complete Facility Maintenance.

In addition to the experience described above, you will also be evaluated on the basis of your overall level of competency (knowledge, skills, and abilities) in the following areas:

• Knowledge of how to install and operate a wide range of complete electrical systems.
• Skill in the use of hand tools and power tools.
• Knowledge sufficient to repair and troubleshoot large, difficult AC systems.
• Skill in the use of accepted plumbing trade methods and techniques.
• Knowledge and ability in performing carpentry work on difficult or heavy items.

Residency: There is a residency requirement for all applicants not currently employed by CBP. Individuals are required to have physically resided in the United States or its protectorates (as declared under international law) for at least three of the last five years. If you do not meet the residency requirement and you have been physically located in a foreign location for more than two of the last five years, you may request an exception to determine if you are eligible for a residency waiver by meeting one or more of the following conditions:

• Working for the U.S. Government as a federal civilian or as a member of the military
