Duties Description The Monroe Crime Analysis Center (MCAC) is seeking motivated college students to participate in a paid internship that provides exposure to the operations of a regional crime analysis center. The intern(s) will assist with administrative and analytical support tasks that contribute to the production and dissemination of intelligence products used by local, state, and federal law enforcement partners. This internship offers students a practical understanding of crime analysis operations and helps them develop professional skills that may prepare them for future employment in the New York State Crime Analysis Center network.
The student assistant(s) in OCASP will assist with duties including, but not limited to: Review daily intelligence bulletins produced by the center and assist in creating digital display slides used to share information with law enforcement partners. Assist with the preparation of routine intelligence products such as weekly larceny bulletins, parole release notifications, frequent pawner reports, and weekend party bulletins. Support analysts by conducting data entry and tracking crime trends, including stolen vehicles, burglaries, robberies, and larceny patterns.
Assist with organizing and maintaining administrative and operational records related to analytical products and intelligence dissemination. Conduct basic research and assist staff with gathering open-source information that may support ongoing analytical projects. Assist with formatting reports, presentation materials, and intelligence summaries used by the center.
Observe and learn about the crime analysis process, including how analysts monitor crime trends, support investigations, and assist law enforcement agencies. Perform general administrative duties that support the daily operations of the Monroe Crime Analysis Center. Minimum Qualifications Must be a current student enrolled in a matriculating degree program and have completed a minimum of one (1) year as a student at a degree-granting two or four-year college or university.
