What is an Intern Next Js Developer?

An Intern Next Js Developer is an entry-level position for individuals learning to build web applications using the Next.js framework, which is based on React. This role typically involves assisting in the development, testing, and maintenance of web applications, while gaining practical experience with modern JavaScript tools and best practices. Interns often work under the supervision of senior developers, collaborate with teams, and contribute to real-world projects to develop their technical skills and understanding of the software development lifecycle.

To thrive as an Intern Next.js Developer, you need a solid understanding of JavaScript, React fundamentals, and web development concepts, often supported by coursework or relevant project experience. Familiarity with Next.js, Git, popular code editors, and basic knowledge of REST APIs or databases is typically expected. Strong problem-solving skills, eagerness to learn, and effective communication make an intern stand out in collaborative environments. Job description

Learn more about Carvana Apex for early career opportunities here:

Accelerate Your Career!

Explore the Product Apex application here.

Before you proceed to the application, please prepare your 3-5 minute "Apex Pitch" video. See examples from current Carvana employees here.

Your video should be a short walkthrough of what led you to apply and how you went about solving a specific problem using technology. We don't expect high production value, we just want the real you.

Please address these three areas:

  1. The "Why": Why Carvana, and why join us at this specific moment?
  2. The Track: Why is Software Engineering the right fit for your skills?
  3. The Build: Walk us through an AI-driven application or solution you've personally built. It can be any project-personal, for school, an internship, etc.
    • Show us what you built and explain the thought-process behind specific decisions you made along the way.
    • Detail exactly how AI played a role in building it-planning, writing code, etc.
    • Use a screen-recording tool and walk us through your prompt creation, documentation, code, or other specific artifacts while you discuss.
    • We are interested in your creative process and problem-solving steps rather than a product demonstration.

How to Record & Share

You can use any tool you like, but our favorites for tech demos allow us to see your face and your screen while you share:

  • Loom (Recommended): Great for "picture-in-picture" recordings of you and your screen.
  • Camtasia or Clipchamp: Best if you want to edit multiple takes together.
  • Zoom: Use "shared screen with speaker view."

Ensure your video is uploaded to a cloud service such as YouTube or Google Drive and set to "Public," Unlisted," or "Anyone with the link can view." Test your link in an Incognito or Private browser window before submitting to make sure we can see it.

  • Stay Ahead: Explore new technologies and approaches to bring Carvana's engineering to the next level.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience: 0-3 years of software development experience.
  • Tech Stack: Proficiency in C# / .NET Core (GraphQL/RESTful via Web API) and Azure services OR JavaScript / TypeScript (React Hooks, Next.js, Nx).
  • Fundamentals: Strong skills in unit testing, debugging, and API integrations.
  • Mindset: A positive attitude, a willingness to be flexible, and a deep hunger to learn.

About Carvana

Sourced by ZipRecruiter

At Carvana, we sell cars, but we're not salespeople. Since 2013, we've been making it our mission to change the way people buy cars. We saw a huge problem with how much it can suck to buy a car the traditional way, so we committed ourselves to tackling one of the largest, yet-to-be-disrupted markets in the world - the $1T per year U.S. car market (yes, that's $Trillion with a "T").
