What does an intern music orchestrator do?

An Intern Music Orchestrator assists professional orchestrators in arranging and adapting music for ensembles, such as orchestras or bands. Their tasks often include preparing scores, transcribing music, and learning to allocate parts for different instruments under supervision. Interns gain hands-on experience in music notation software and orchestration techniques, and may also participate in rehearsals or recording sessions to observe the orchestration process. This role is ideal for students or recent graduates looking to build practical skills in the music industry.

What types of projects and collaborations can I expect as an intern music orchestrator?

As an Intern Music Orchestrator, you'll often assist in preparing musical scores and arrangements for various projects such as film, TV, video games, or live performances. You will likely work alongside composers, arrangers, and other orchestrators, supporting tasks like score preparation, part extraction, and possibly digital mockups. Collaboration with recording engineers and performers is also common, helping you gain insight into the full production process. This role provides hands-on experience in a dynamic team environment and offers exposure to many facets of the music industry.
