Job Description:

Scope of the role

Reporting to the Global IT Project Manager, theBI Data Analyst is responsible for designing, delivering, and supporting enterprise-grade business intelligence and analytics solutions using Microsoft Power BI and the Power Platform, with astrong focus on supporting commodity trading (e.g. oil, metal, gas, power, LNG, derivatives), shipping and trade lifecycle activities (e.g. operation, risk management, contract, settlement, letter of credit, etc.). The role is critical for translating trading-specific data insights into actionable business decisions.

The role acts as asubject-matter expert (SME) for Power BI while also possessingstrong business analysis capabilities, enabling data-driven decision-making through high-quality dashboards, governed datasets, automation, and strong stakeholder engagement.

Main Responsibilities

Strategic Collaboration & Business Alignment

  • Partner with business users, senior management, and IT stakeholders to understand analytical needs and translate them into actionable BI solutions.
  • Work closely with commodity traders, risk managers, and business teams to ensure that the analytical solutions are aligned withmarket, trading and operation activities.
  • Gather, document, and validate business requirements; recommend analytical approaches aligned with business objectives.
  • Translatecomplexcommoditytrading business problems into technical designs that deliver clear insights and measurable business value.
  • Proactively engage with senior business stakeholders to identify areas of improvement in trading and shipping operations and support business development through data-driven insights.

Innovation & Product Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain Power BI datasets, reports, and dashboards to meet evolving business requirements.
  • Build anddeliverend-to-endanalytical and automation solutions usingPower BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, andAI Builder tailored to thecommodity trading and shipping business.
  • Build solution prototypes where needed to validate concepts and accelerate delivery.
  • Work closely with thedata architect and data engineering team to design anddeliveranalytics-readydatasets through data ingestion, cleansing, and transformation.
  • Document analytical logic, data models, and datasets to support advanced analytics and future enhancements

BI Adoption & Enablement

  • Act as thego-to expert for Power BI and data analytics-related user queries within thecommodity trading and shipping domain.
  • Conduct Power BIend-user training sessions and provide ongoing guidance and best-practice support.
  • PromoteeffectiveBI usage patterns and self-service analytics across the organization
  • Advocate for the importance ofdata governance and business rules specific to commodity trading and shipping to enhance theaccuracy and timeliness of trading decisions.

Operational Excellence

  • EnforceBI governance standards and best practices to maintaindata quality, consistency, and auditability, ensuring that data used in trading decisions ishighly reliable and actionable.
  • Monitor and optimize report performance and dataset refreshes to ensure stability and scalability.
  • Maintain clear technical documentation, release artifacts, and operational procedures

Profile

  • Bachelor's degree inInformation Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • Microsoft certifications inPower BI / Power Platform / Fabric are highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of commodity trading environments is required (oil, metal, gas, power, LNG,derivatives).In-depthknowledge of the trading lifecycle,includingmarkettrends, operation, PnL, positions,settlementsandriskmanagement, is essential.
  • Experience working withtrading data (e.g., PnL, risk, positions, settlements) andETRM systems is highly preferred.
  • Strong expertise in Microsoft Power Platform, withPower BI as a core specialization (SME level).
  • Excellent SQL skills and solid understanding ofdata modelling concepts.
  • Strongbusiness analysis skills, capable ofinterpreting trading requirements and translating them intotechnical deliverables.
  • Stronganalyticaland problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Strongstakeholdermanagement skills, capable of exceeding stakeholder expectations, particularly in the context oftrading and business analysis.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and well-organized, withstrongtime-managementskills.
  • Comfortable working under pressure in afast-paced, trading-focused environment.
  • Team player with a collaborative mindset.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written). Any other language is an asset.
