This Opportunity

In this role, the Process Engineering Intern supports the daily engineering needs of the production environment - assisting with data collection, process documentation, and continuous improvement activities. You'll provide handson support to engineers in monitoring processes, resolving routine issues, and contributing to engineering projects aimed at improving quality, efficiency, and reliability. You'll be encouraged to ask questions, contribute ideas, and learn from engineers who are eager to mentor you.

This internship exists to give you foundational engineering experience while helping the department execute essential technical tasks that keep our operations running at their best.

Internship Details

  • Duration: 10-12 weeks (Summer) or semesterlong (Fall/Spring)
  • Schedule: Fulltime during summer; parttime options available during the academic year
  • Eligibility: Rising juniors and seniors; completion of sophomore year preferred
  • Compensation: Competitive hourly rate based on academic level and experience; $25.00/hour for undergraduate-level students
  • Location: Onsite at our facility in Mahwah, New Jersey

What You'll Do

  • Support engineering staff with data collection, process observations, and basic analysis on assigned production lines
  • Assist in drafting, updating, and organizing SOPs, work instructions, and process documentation
  • Participate in engineering projects such as equipment upgrades, workflow improvements, process optimization trials, and validation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ)
  • Prepare materials, records, and documentation for process studies and improvement initiatives
  • Support troubleshooting efforts by gathering information, documenting issues, and assisting engineers with temporary or permanent solutions
  • Track KPIs, update dashboards, and prepare summary reports for the engineering team
  • Participate in Kaizen, Lean, and continuous improvement workshops
  • Assist in developing training materials and supporting production teams during new process rollouts
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams including Quality, Production, and Maintenance
  • Contribute to engineering initiatives involving CAD/CAM, equipment evaluations, process characterization, or material handling projects

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum qualification of a rising junior or senior currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related Engineering field
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, engineering principles, and problemsolving methodologies

Technical Skills

  • Ability to collect, organize, and interpret data
  • Foundational knowledge of statistical concepts and process analysis tools (coursework acceptable)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Familiarity with CAD or CAM tools is a plus

Preferred Experience

  • Prior internship or project experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Exposure to regulated industries such as medical device, aerospace, or automotive
