UCT is looking for a talented Intern to join us in Phoenix, AZ!

The Sr Mechanical engineer is the main point of contact for all production process equipment and associated fixture related designs, actions and plans. Provides design/build/fixture/handling systems support for a variety of applications globally. Leads efforts in constantly improving equipment yields and performance, accountable for the equipment procedures and equipment process sphere indicators. Continually develops the skills necessary for sustaining "world class" parts clean engineering services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Part fixture design, safety considerations, ergonomics.
    • Solid works expert, including failure modeling.
    • Develops/maintains and evaluates production tooling (fixtures, baskets, etc.) required for efficient, effective part processing.
  • Part treatment work station design
    • Liquid: etch, strip, rinse, passivation, spray.
    • Surface texturing: media blasting, other mechanical methods of surface texturing.
    • Coating: TWAS, arc spray, ALD, electro/electroless deposition.
    • Other vapor phase processes.
    • Develops and maintains process equipment requirements and specifications.
    • Develops and maintains process equipment work procedures (preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, RFC, OQ, IQ)
    • Lead and support global equipment projects (development, installation, upgrades, etc.)
    • Develops and implement training materials, examinations and certifications regarding process equipment maintenance and operations.
  • Automation:
    • Design and Programming robotic handling of parts.
    • Integration of sensors in equipment design.
    • Lead development of Equipment Data Acquisition systems implementation packages to provide predictive process variation control on similar equipment globally.
    • Lead and participate in cost reduction efforts.
    • Fully participates on committees (technical, safety, environmental, etc.) as assigned.

Other Duties

Participates in projects as assigned to improve systems, operations & cross-functional collaboration. Other duties may be assigned and at the discretion of the Company.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Superior leadership and interpersonal communication skills; High level troubleshooting skills coupled with hands-on approach to solving problems. Familiarity with "Six Sigma", "Lean Manufacturing" concepts and other process improvement methods and approaches.
  • Knowledge and engineering approach in mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics and chemicals. Ability to read drawings and identify critical quality characteristics. familiarity with wet chemistry processing, semiconductor tool consumables, semiconductor technology, critical cleaning technology, semiconductor processing, coating technologies, and CAD implementation including failure analysis software.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with individuals at all levels, both within and outside the organization. Able to successfully prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • English writing and verbal communication.

Educational/Certification Requirement:

  • A minimum B.Sc. degree in a sub-field of engineering, mechanical preferred, materials from an accredited college or university. Experience in the Semi-conductor industry is an advantage.

Work Experience Requirements:

  • Three (3) years working as an Equipment Engineer, and/or technically oriented Process Engineer is preferred, but a new graduate may be considered for this position.

Work Environment:

  • This job is performed both in a professional office environment and on the production floor. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and manufacturing areas can occasionally be moderate or loud.  

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to sit; climb stairs, maintain balance; employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust optical focus.

Travel Requirements:

  • Limited off-site and/or overnight travel away from primary work location may be required.
