Job description

REA is accepting resumes and portfolios from landscape architecture students for a paid internship for our offices in Indianapolis, IN and Louisville, KY. We are open to candidates seeking three-month, or six-month to year-long internships.

Overview

As an intern at REA, you will have the opportunity to participate in all stages of project development, including master planning, conceptual/schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration. You will work closely with our staff of landscape architects, planners, and civil engineers on a wide variety of commercial, institutional, and municipal planning and design projects. Specific responsibilities will include assisting project teams with the production of AutoCAD construction documents and details; preparation of conceptual site design plans, illustrations, and 3D visualizations; preparing quantity take-offs and cost estimates; and assisting project managers with client meeting materials and presentation boards.

Capstone Project

Our internship experience includes a capstone project where all interns will develop research or help solve real-world design challenges on a specific topic. At the conclusion of the program, interns will share their projects and findings with the entire studio.

What we’re looking for

Basic qualifications include current enrollment in an accredited bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Urban Planning or Landscape Architecture. We value individuals who bring a positive attitude and collaborative spirit. We desire students with strong written and verbal skills, and exceptional graphic, analysis, and digital production skills. Proficiency in Adobe Suite, 3-D modeling (3-D Max and/or SketchUp), ArcGIS, or AutoCAD. Those students who will be entering the final year of their degree and desire a six to twelve-month internship are strongly encouraged to apply.
