Software Development Intern
About the Role:This job is unique to the legislative branch. The IT Software Development Intern has basic
understanding of the software development life cycle and QA process. The incumbent will gain hands-on experience with current technologies and development methodologies while working alongside a senior team. The incumbent must be nonpartisan. Preference will be given to someone pursuing a STEM degree. This position is part-time with a minimum 20 hours a week. Flexible hours available upon approval.
This is a non-benefited position and incumbents serve in an at-will basis.

Job Duties• Assist in updating and testing of web applications.
• Assist the project management team with project and task updates.
• Provide first-level support by responding to service requests in the service management queue. This includes troubleshooting and resolving basic issues, escalating more complex problems to higher-level support when necessary, and ensuring timely follow-up on all open tickets.
• Assist in maintaining and updating technical documentation, including creating knowledge base articles for common issues and solutions.
• Work closely with team members to ensure seamless communication and support for ongoing projects and initiatives.
• Demonstrate a strong willingness and ability to learn new technologies, tools, and processes. Stay current with the latest IT trends and best practices to effectively support the development team and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve basic IT-related issues, continuously seeking ways to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Required Qualifications• Basic understanding of software development life cycle and QA processes.
• Basic understanding of web development technologies (e.g., Java, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Spring, React).
• Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., JIRA) is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

• Physical presence is required to perform some tasks and may be seasonally based.
