Job description

About Trimark Associates
Trimark Associates is a leader in SCADA software, metering services, and system integration for the U.S. power industry. We support generation facilities of all sizes-from 1 MW solar sites to multi-GW nuclear plants-delivering solutions for operational visibility, regulatory compliance (including NERC and CAISO), and reliable system control.
Our in-house platforms, including T1-S Vantage and True:SCADA, are built on deep expertise in metering, SCADA, and energy market integration. Clients depend on us to ensure seamless operations, enable fast controls, provide reliable data, and adapt quickly to changing grid demands.
From concept through commissioning, we design and deliver complete systems-covering architecture, software development, hardware integration, deployment, testing, certification, and ongoing support.
Role Overview
Trimark Associates is seeking a Tier II Application Support Engineer to support our mission-critical T1-S Vantage and True:SCADA platforms. In this role, you'll work at the intersection of software engineering, infrastructure, and operations-ensuring system reliability, resolving complex issues, and improving overall platform stability.
You'll collaborate with development, OT, integration, project management, and customer operations teams to troubleshoot production systems, support data flows and integrations, and drive long-term improvements. This is a technical, hands-on role for mid-level engineers comfortable owning issues from initial triage through root cause identification and resolution. Ideal candidates will have 3-5 years of experience supporting complex, mission-critical systems and working directly in production environments, along with the desire and ability to grow into full-time software development.
What You'll Do
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in production, mission-critical applications
  • Write SQL queries to analyze data issues, database performance, and data integrity
  • Diagnose and resolve issues across REST APIs, web applications, and backend services
  • Partner with developers to identify root causes, implement fixes, and deploy changes
  • Support and monitor Windows and Linux systems and services
  • Work within a biweekly sprint cycle, contributing to planning and execution
  • Proactively identify recurring issues and implement solutions to improve system reliability and reduce support load
  • Communicate findings and resolutions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, a related field, and/or an equivalent combination of education and practical experience
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in software development, application support, or a similar technical role
  • Experience working in production environments and handling real-world system issues
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer. This position is not eligible for sponsorship of a work visa.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Experience with SQL Server (writing queries, data analysis and troubleshooting; performance tuning and database management are a plus)
  • Understanding of relational database fundamentals (transactions, indexing, ACID, DML/DDL)
  • Experience troubleshooting web applications and RESTful APIs
  • Exposure to Windows Server environments and administration
  • Ability to read and understand C#/.NET code for debugging and issue analysis
  • Working knowledge of HTML and JavaScript for troubleshooting front-end issues
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in complex systems
  • Ability to support time-sensitive, high-availability environments
  • Clear communication skills for working across technical and non-technical teams

We don't expect candidates to have deep expertise in all areas, but strong fundamentals and the ability to learn quickly are essential.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with PostgreSQL and time-series data (e.g., TimescaleDB)
  • Linux system administration experience
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized environments
  • Understanding of TCP/IP networking fundamentals
  • Experience with Azure, especially relational database services and monitoring (e.g., Application Insights)
  • Development experience with .NET/C# or other modern languages (JavaScript/TypeScript, Java)
  • Familiarity with Git/source control and Agile development practices
  • Understanding of object-oriented design principles
  • Experience with SCADA systems or energy/utilities environments
  • Familiarity with industrial protocols such as Modbus and DNP3

Why This Role
  • Work on high-impact systems that support the electrical grid. You'll have a direct impact on systems that support real-time utility operations across the U.S.
  • Gain deep exposure to data, infrastructure, APIs, and distributed systems
  • Collaborate directly with experienced developers and domain experts
  • Clear path to move into a software engineering role
