Welcome to Vernon Public Schools: where students learn, achieve, and succeed!
Description: The Business Office is seeking an enthusiastic and capable college student who is willing to learn the different functions of school business and finance while also assisting in completing various tasks relevant to the needs of the school district. This program will also provide the candidate a real- world opportunity to enhance their presentation skills, provide data driven recommendations, and deepen their knowledge of general accounting principles and financial statements.
This internship would allow the candidate to learn the basics of the following functions:
Accounts Payable
General Accounting Principles/ Entries
Multi-project Budget Tracking
Basic Payroll
Financial Projections
At the conclusion of this internship, the candidate will be expected to complete one (1) capstone project encompassing the elements and methods learned while becoming acclimated to the various business office functions.
In addition to this, the candidate will be able to understand and interpret various financial statements while ensuring their work is accurate, clear, and concise.
Qualifications & Skills
Must be a rising junior or senior at a 4- year accredited college/ university
Cumulative GPA minimum 3.2
Microsoft Suite (proficient)
Google Suite (basic)
Other completed coursework and experience relevant to the position
Soft skills (verbal and written communication)
Basic Principles of Accounting 1 & 2 preferred
Start date: As soon as June 22, 2026
Salary: ($21.50/ hour- no benefits)
Schedule: Monday- Thursday; Hours to be determined
Duration: Up to seven (7) weeks
