Employment Type: Internship

The Accounting Co-op/Intern will gain experience in all areas of project accounting and learn the key aspects of accounting with a construction management firm. The Accounting Co-op/Intern will assist with daily, weekly, and monthly tasks learning the full cycle of accounting management. This position reports to the Accounting Manager, Melanie McKinnon.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Learn the complete cycle of a project in accounting from startup meeting to closeout
  • Manage Accounts Payable cycle: Acquire, code and date entry of AP invoices. Properly save on systems and circulate for approval. Knowledge of and adherence to payment terms and subcontractor compliance requirements
  • Prepare, request and track subcontractor lien waivers
  • Act as a liaison to subcontractors and vendors regarding payment inquiries
  • Research and reconcile vendor statements
  • Assist in preparation for check runs
  • Managing Accounts Receivable cycle: prep month-end client invoices
  • Attend weekly accounting meetings, cost meetings and startup and closeout meeting with the project team
  • Build relationship with key stakeholders including vendors, subcontractors, and clients
  • Completing other miscellaneous projects as needed

  • Accurate and efficient with a strong work ethic and interpersonal communication skills
