About the Accounting Supervisor position

M2 Lending Solutions is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Accountant to own financial tasks such as full-cycle AP/AR, reconcile monthly books, and generate quarterly financial statements, and personnel tasks such as processing full-cycle payroll, managing benefits enrollment, and maintaining accurate I-9 compliance files. In this role, you will play a key part in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, ensuring the timely processing of payments, receipts, and reconciliations. You will work closely with the external partners that round out our Accounting and Human Resource teams, and our Senior Leadership team, to support daily financial operations, manage cash flow, and help drive efficiency across the organization.

Your duties will include preparing financial statements and reports, onboarding and offboarding employees, processing bi-weekly payroll, and performing bookkeeping/accounting responsibilities for LITC rental properties in multiple states. We expect you to be GAAP proficient, work systematically with annual life-cycle accounting needs, and perform calculations efficiently with high-level attention to detail. You will oversee our Accounting Intern, when applicable, and be part of our Senior Leadership Team. Your work will contribute to our overall success in helping families achieve homeownership.

Accountant responsibilities are:

  • Keep accounts receivable, accounts payable, and invoices up to date, including banking, check, and ACH transactions.
  • Work with internal and external property managers to ensure timely rental collections, budget adherence on construction and maintenance approvals, and monthly financial reporting per property
  • Work in multiple Accounting software systems, such as ApFolio, Loan Vision, Encompass, and QuickBooks
  • Data entry and filing of necessary accounting documents
  • Perform monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts and review of P&L for completeness
  • Manage accounting journal entries, tracking all business transactions whenever needed
  • Review and update financial data in databases, keeping them accurate, relevant, and fully accessible by request
  • Follow established procedures regarding expenses, payroll processing, and record keeping
  • Support our Fractional Controller and Operations Manager with all accounting needs to support mortgage loans, including reports, locks, investor renewals, audits, and accounting intern oversight
  • Ensure investment K1's are completed in a timely manner
  • Accurately process bi-weekly payroll, including bonuses and commissions, benefit reimbursements, merit raises, and final checks
  • Assist with the onboarding of new employees by managing offer letters, background checks, 1-9 adherence, benefits selections, and office policies
  • Manage supply orders for the office
  • Assist with employee off-boarding

Accountant requirements are:

  • Work in-person at the Denver office
  • 2+ years' experience in an Accountant position
  • Accounting experience in property management or construction management preferred
  • BS or BA degree in accounting, finance, or other relevant areas; relevant qualifications such as ACA, ACCA or CIMA will be a bonus
  • GAAP proficient
  • Proficient in MS Office suite, especially Excel
  • Working knowledge of QuickBooks
  • Experience with the Mortgage industry, Property Management, or Construction Accounting software systems preferred
  • Ability to work independently and adhere to deadlines
  • Strong analytical skills with close attention to detail
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
