Job description

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a professional, innovative and detailed individual for our Test Engineering Intern position. If you are looking for an opportunity to work on the state-of-the-art digital relays that protect and control the electrical power system, then this position is for you!

What You Will Do

  • Support the design, testing, and validation of electrical and electronic systems.

  • Participate in hardware and firmware verification activities.

  • Conduct testing, troubleshooting, and data analysis in a manufacturing setting.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware, firmware, software, and manufacturing engineers.

  • Analyze test results, identify issues, and recommend design improvements to enhance product reliability and performance while adhering to engineering and quality standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

  • Strong academic performance and interest in electrical engineering fundamentals.

  • Knowledge of circuit analysis, electronics, digital logic, PCB design and prototyping concepts.

  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, and power supplies.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Background check results satisfactory to SEL

  • Negative drug test result(s)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Coursework or project experience in power systems, embedded systems, control systems, or communications.

  • Experience with C/C++/C#, Python, or other engineering tools.

  • Knowledge of SolidWorks or other CAD tools.

  • Familiarity with networking protocols and serial communications.
