Job Description

AECOM is seeking an Architectural Engineering Intern to be based in Markham, ON. This is a new position within the Transportation group.

This internship is for the January to April 2027 term.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Civil and Municipal design for structural and transit infrastructure, highway, transit, and roadway projects including municipal roads and highways,.
  • Preparation of drawings, specifications, and quantity take-off's
  • Participate in design of transportation infrastructure in accordance with applicable regulations, laws, standards, etc.
  • Participate in site inspections under supervision of an experienced engineer
  • Participate in preparation of various engineering reports under supervision of and experienced engineer
  • Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
  • Utilize and maintain technical databases and file structures within project files.
  • Work with tight schedules, be flexible, and contribute in a high performing design team.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must currently be enrolled in the first year in Architectural Engineering – Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc).
  • Strong interest in designing transportation structures – roadway and railway bridges, subway stations, culverts, retaining walls, marine structures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong background in mathematics and science
  • Basic knowledge of software for the position (examples include software such as AutoCAD)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities and interpersonal skills.
  • Skilled in technical writing, communicating and presenting and capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software.
