The Furnace Group within the Technology Business Unit is looking for a new graduate Structural Engineering Trainee to join the team. Reporting to the Practice Lead you will support projects globally based out of our Mississauga location.

As the successful candidate, you will: 

The graduate engineer will be working under the supervision of a senior member in the team to deliver:

  • Overall environmental loading computations of furnace/equipment structures 
  • Structural design of the steel components of custom designed smelting furnaces
  • Binding force analysis of the Hatch patented furnace binding system
  • Assistance on 3D model preparation as well as drawings productions
  • Close collaboration with process, mechanical and electrical engineers
  • Client and site support, including vendor fabrication assistance

You bring to the role:

  • Must be working towards graduating in 2027, or recently graduated with up to 2 years of work experience in the heavy industry sector, and with a Bachelor of Applied Science or Bachelor of Engineering from an accredited university within the Civil or Structural engineering specialization
  • Be eligible for registration as an EIT with a provincial engineering body upon graduation
  • Excel academically while being actively involved in extra-curricular and/or volunteer activities at school or in the community
  • Preferred academic courses include Solid Mechanics II, Heat Transfer, Structural Analysis II, Concrete and/or Steel Design, Structural Dynamics, Numerical Methods
  • Willingness and ability to travel to project sites including remote sites

Compensation:

Range: $81,000.00 - $84,000.00

At Hatch, we are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. In accordance with legislated pay transparency requirements, the expected salary range for this position is based on current market data and aligned with internal pay structures to ensure consistency and fairness.

Your individual compensation within this range will depend on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications and location. In addition to base pay, our total rewards package may include performance-based incentives, comprehensive benefits, and other programs designed to support your well-being and growth.
