Your work environment at EXP

EXP is seeking a Junior Structural Designer, Buildings to join our Hamilton office. While there is an opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects the primary focus of this position is to assist our design team on structural design for the residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional projects.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

  • Assist with design of steel, concrete and masonry structures
  • Analyze the capacity of existing structures and design reinforcement, when required
  • Work with other senior and/or junior engineers collaboratively
  • Participate in design meetings with owner, architect, and other consultants
  • Participate in construction site meetings
  • Conduct site visits during construction to review work for general compliance to structural drawings and contract documents

What your experience looks like

  • Degree in Structural Engineering from a recognized university
  • Preferably 1 - 3 years' experience in structural engineering with a focus on structural analysis and design in buildings
  • Experience with NBCC, CSA standards
  • Field experience on construction sites, conducting general reviews for compliance with drawings and specifications, and writing site reports
  • Experience with Etabs, SAFE, SAP and other similar Structural design software
  • Team player with the proven ability to work independently with minimum direction
  • Hard worker, who is eager and willing to assume responsibility
  • Commitment and dedication to client service as well as technical excellence
  • Demonstrated and effective communication skills and the ability to handle changing needs while working effectively with diverse groups
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to determine what work is required and draw rational conclusions from all available information
  • A valid driver's license is required
     

 

This job posting is for an existing position vacancy within our organization.

The salary range for this role is between $60K - $75K. The actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
