Job description

Position Summary: Failure Analysis Engineer

Location: Nashua, NH

Amphenol High Speed Products Group is the market leader for high speed, high bandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom market (Mobile Networks, Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.). Our products help to enable the electronics revolution and remain a key enabler for all the major Tier 1 OEMs globally. Our global headquarters are located in Nashua, NH and we have design, sales and manufacturing locations globally. We are currently seeking an experienced Failure Analysis Engineer to join our Product Development team. The position will be located in Nashua, NH.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a Failure Analysis Engineer you will provide the lead in investigation of connector failures through inspection, testing and analysis of data.

  • Perform root cause analysis of failed connectors
  • Create a failure analysis process and database to capture historical data and utilize for future failure analyses
  • Interface with customers to understand the issues and inform them on the status, root cause, and solution
  • Confirm diagnoses through testing and inspection
  • Prepare test samples and test requests and work with test lab technicians.
  • Suggest corrective actions to design, process, inspection etc
  • Work with engineers from other disciplines to help with root cause
  • Process and analyze testing results and create reports and presentations for internal and external customers.
  • Collaborate with internal and external suppliers and manufacturing personnel
  • Request and review 8Ds from suppliers

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS/MS Mechanical Engineering
  • 5 – 10 years of experience with failure analysis and/or electrical connectors
  • Experience with solid modeling tools - Pro/E and/or Solidworks would be a plus
  • Experience with data analysis software, MS Excel, Minitab would be a plus
  • Experience developing test plans for mechanical and environmental stresses
  • Experience specifying testing protocol in automotive or consumer industries would be a plus
  • Ability to communicate with technical & non-technical people
  • Ability to work in team environment
  • Desire to solve problems and identify solutions
  • Knowledge of copper alloys and high-performance engineering thermoplastics would be a plus
  • Basic understanding of electrical connectors
