  • Learn how audit teams plan, execute, and review engagements from start to finish

Tax Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and assist with individual and business tax returns, including:

  • Work on GSC (grouped) returns, gaining repetition and confidence across similar but non-identical clients
  • Input and reconcile K-1s, trial balances, fixed assets, and adjusting journal entries
  • Assist with book-to-tax reconciliations, diagnostics, and clearing review points
  • Support first-year and new-client returns, learning how information flows when no prior-year data exists

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in accounting or accounting systems

  • Detail-oriented, enthusiastic, and collaborative mindset
  • Growth-oriented, entrepreneurial spirit with a desire to make an impact

Core Skills You'll Build:
  • Apply classroom accounting concepts to real client work
  • Develop strong Excel skills, including data cleanup, analysis, and review
  • Learn how to self-review work, respond to review notes, and improve accuracy
  • Communicate professionally with associates, seniors, managers, and partners
  • Manage time across multiple engagements and deadlines
  • Gain confidence asking questions, seeking feedback, and taking initiative to find work

Training & Support:
  • Participate in formal training weeks before each rotation (Audit and Tax)

  • Work closely with a Performance Coach and a Buddy
  • Receive real-time feedback, review notes, and direct verbal feedback throughout the internship
  • Learn how to navigate firm systems, workflows, and professional expectations

  • Format: In-person, hybrid, and virtual options available. In-person experience is strongly encouraged
  • Returning Interns: May specialize in either Tax or Audit based on prior experience
  • Exposure to real client work, not just shadowing
  • Opportunity to rotate between Audit and Tax
  • Hands-on experience using the same tools and processes as full-time staff
  • Participate in firm events, networking opportunities, and intern group activities
  • A realistic preview of what a full-time career at Keiter looks like
